Childbirth Series

The staff of the Women & Children’s Center is pleased to offer a series of four consecutive classes to help prepare you and your partner for childbirth and the postpartum period at Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center. Please bring 2 bed pillows and a blanket to each class. 

Childbirth 101: Introduction to Labor 
The series begins with a clear explanation of pregnancy and the labor process. Whether you are a first-time patient or a veteran, attending this class will help you understand the signs of early labor and the different stages of labor. You will begin to learn and practice comfort strategies, relaxation techniques and the management of normal labor and birth. Part one of a four part series. 

Childbirth 102: Active Labor and Delivery 
This class will discuss medical terms and procedures, the basics of fetal and maternal monitoring and what to expect in active and transitional labor. Practice comfort measures that include visualization, breathing and massage techniques. Part two of a four part series. 

Childbirth 103: Pain Management and Cesarean Birth 
Understand the differences between commonly used pain relief medications in labor and for delivery. Also learn about labor induction, pushing, vaginal delivery and cesarean section. Part three of a four part series. 

Childbirth 104: Postpartum 
Helping your newborn transition peacefully to the outside world takes time, patience and understanding. You may experience many physical and emotional changes that affect you and your partner. This class addresses realistic expectations that will help you adjust to the arrival of your newborn. Part four of a four part series.

The cost of this class is $25.00.

The event will be held at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center - Classroom 3 located at 215 West Janss Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360.

Please be aware that this class meets on 5/4/2017 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, 5/11/2017 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, 5/18/2017 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, 5/25/2017 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

Please bring 2 pillows and a blanket and/or yoga mat to class.
